Website Developer

We are seeking a local, individual freelance web developer to join our dynamic team. If you have experience developing websites within CMSs such as Joomla!, Drupal, Plone and Wordpress, we may be looking for you. 
Most of our clients are socially conscious non-profits and green businesses, so if you wish to work for good causes and environmentally conscious companies, please read on.

The developer we’re seeking must have experience writing valid HTML / XHTML / CSS / PHP, and knowledge and use of WCAG / Section 508 is required. Experience with template customization on open source CMSs like Joomla!, Drupal, WordPress and others is a necessity. Willingness to incorporate basic principles of SEO according to the specifications of the project also required. Page slicing in Photoshop is very helpful. Additionally, we would like someone who has built and created e-commerce sites using digiSHOP products, as well as setting up secure certificates, payment gateways, etc. For this particular project, candidate must have experience building event ticketing systems that link to an events calendar and seating chart.

This may be for one particular project, or it may lead to many other projects and a long-term position on our team. This is a contract position only; if you have or are seeking a full-time job, this is not the position for you. The ideal candidate is a local, freelance web developer and can work both on-site and off-site. You should be available for both creative and client meetings during normal business hours. You must have your own computer set up, with the ability to test on both Mac and Windows OS in a variety of popular browsers, a fast Internet connection and a reliable landline. Summary of required skills:

Website Designer

We are seeking a local, individual freelance web designer to join our dynamic team. If you have at least three years of experience, a unique and creative design talent, and love collaborating, we may be looking for you. Most of our clients are socially conscious non-profits and green businesses, so if you wish to work for good causes and environmentally conscious companies, please read on. At Conscious Creative, we’re about values, sustainability, creativity, community and having fun.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of experience designing websites, has completed a graphic design or interactive design degree and is currently seeking freelance, part-time employment. The ideal candidate must also love to work independently, have a complete Mac computer setup and is eager to put their skills to work for an eco-friendly, creative company. Speed, attention to detail, taking initiative, reliability, and accuracy are key. The position requires and ability to work both onsite and offsite, and the flexibility to be available on an as-needed basis. You may occasionally be asked to attend client and brainstorming meetings at our Berkeley studio and around the Bay Area. You must own and be very adept in Dreamweaver, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator; slicing of web pages is essential, and HTML & CSS skills are a plus! Having your own quality scanner, color printer, reliable broadband web connection, and a can-do attitude is always helpful as well.

Information Architect

If you're an information architect looking for a freelance or full-time position working for non-profits, green businesses and important causes, this could be the opportunity for you. We’re seeking an information architect who wants to join our dynamic team and put their skills to work for an eco-friendly, full-service, creative agency. At Conscious Creative, we’re about values, sustainability, creativity, community and having fun.

We are looking for an Information Architect, with 5+ years of experience, including similar positions held within an agency, to effectively lead architecture builds and user interaction design for client websites and microsites that optimize user experience and elicits desired response and results.

This is a temporary three to four month position, but could lead to ongoing work. You will interface regularly with our clients, designer, art director, project manager, brand strategist, copywriter, and report to the creative director.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Work closely with creative teams (creative director, art director, writer, designer) strategist and development teams to define UI requirements, site maps, pageflows, wireframes and clickable prototypes to create intuitive and easy to use interfaces for digital deliverables.
  • Analyze and synthesize user research & understanding to define appropriate functionality and product requirements to drive future redesigns.
  • Create and maintain all documentation including use cases, specifications, navigation, sitemaps, wireframes and the clear presentation of the proposed solution to internal and external teams.
  • Collaborate with content, visual design, and technical teams to ensure that all applicable standards are applied, and that the final product achieves goals.
  • Own the requirements gathering process; lead usability testing and user research related to interface design.
  • Review campaign reports and site usage analytics to evaluate performance of solutions and identify areas of improvement.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience as an IA/UED, preferably in a small marketing or design agency environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction or related program is desired.
  • Strong leadership, people and negotiating skills.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within project teams. The position requires constant collaboration and communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into effective website designs across multiple industries and for various audiences. Proven track record and a passion for designing user interfaces that drive users to desired actions.
  • Ability to operate in a complex environment of multiple projects and stakeholders and to participate in several projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Omni Graffle, Keynote, PowerPoint, Numbers, Excel, Pages, Word and all Internet browsers (preferably on Mac OS)
  • Communicate directly and follow up with client as required/requested; ensuring tone and manner used with clients and suppliers is professional
  • Participate in internal, project related meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Participate in proposal writing
  • Assist in the preparation of project estimates on a timely basis and revise as required or as scope of project changes
